Young San Antonio Mother Killed by Drunk Driver

Disappointingly, drunk driving accidents are very common. Texas is one of the worst states in the country when it comes to drunk driving statistics. Yet while these accidents occur frequently, no matter how many times you read a story like the following one, it is truly heartbreaking.

Just this week, a 26 year old mother of two was struck by a drunk driver right in front of her children. She had pulled over to the shoulder of the highway because her car had run out of gas. Her friend arrived to help her, and when she stepped out of her vehicle, an intoxicated driver hit her, trapping her under her car. Several drivers who witnessed the accident pulled over, and were able to help pull the woman out, but sadly, she did not survive. The friend who originally stopped to help the woman sustained injuries as well. The man who fatally injured the woman was charged with intoxication manslaughter, which is a second-degree felony. Friends and family remember the woman as a cheerful, loving, hard working person who did everything she could to provide for her two children.

One person’s actions can affect others’ lives in such a massive way. This man’s carelessness on the day of the accident will haunt the woman’s family and friends forever, and now leaves two young children without a mother.
